This shortcoming restricts its efficacy in continuous or real-time monitoring of internal body structures and the functioning of implanted medical devices. Addressing these limitations is crucial, as it can significantly enhance diagnostic accuracy, enable continuous health monitoring, and improve the management of various medical conditions.
\r\r
The Technology: Wireless implantable motes that can locate, track, and power an ultrasound image in real-time
\r\r
This technology leverages CMOS electronic motes implanted in the body to augment ultrasonography imaging. These battery-less devices, positioned within the ultrasound field-of-view, enhance image resolution and consistency, especially at low power settings. The motes operate on extremely low energy levels, ensuring physiological safety and minimal tissue impact. This technology can be expanded to multiple ultrasound-responsive implantable devices to enhance tracking and transmission of device data.
\r\r
This technology has been validated in vivo .
\r\r
Applications:
\r\r
\r
Enhanced reliability for diagnoses using ultrasonography
\r
Remote, wireless tracking of implantable devices
\r
CMOS imaging sensors for security and surveillance
\r
\r\r
Advantages:
\r\r
\r
Improved resolution of ultrasound images
\r
Continuous and real time monitoring
\r
Non-invasive approach for long-term monitoring
\r
Can support transmission from multiple implantable devices
\r
\r\r
Lead Inventor:
\r\r
Kenneth L.
