This technology is a collapsible loupe for eliminating glare on an LCD screen.
Photography using cell phones and other portable devices is highly prevalent, but it can be difficult to view an LCD screen in environments with high ambient light. Although loupes have been designed to eliminate glare on camera or camcorder screens, these are usually bulky and difficult to carry around. There is currently no loupe designed to accommodate the increasingly diverse set of portable devices that require LCD screen viewing in high ambient light settings.
This technology is a collapsible loupe with a 5 x focusable lens that magnifies the content of the screen on which it is mounted. The lens is embedded within a collapsible frame that covers a portion of a screen and blocks out light. The loupe has springs or elastic bands to ensure secure attachment to a mobile device. This allows the user of the device to look into the lens and view the screen without glare, thus aiding the use of a mobile phone or camera. Prototype is available for this technology.
