This technology is a two-piece disposable face shield that can quickly be mass-produced while remaining cost-effective and protective.
Transmission of infectious diseases, such as COVID-19, can be greatly reduced through facial protection with masks or shields. However, the SARS-CoV-2 epidemic has resulted in dire shortages of face shields. A rapidly-deployable face shield will be needed to increase the supply of this essential type of protective equipment during periods of high demand.
This technology describes a two-piece disposable face shield for protection against infectious diseases. Unlike one-piece face shield designs, the two-piece nature of this technology maintains the functional independence of a barrier and support structure. Furthermore, the design can be rapidly implemented in approximately one week through a number of different fabrication techniques. This face shield can easily scale to large quantities as required, all the while remaining cost-effective to produce.
