Acne is a common skin condition caused by a combination of factors, such as clogged pores, bacteria, or diet, that affects about 80% of young adults and adolescents, leading to potential psychological effects and physical scarring. Existing topical and systemic pharmacological treatments are slow-acting and focus primarily on reducing lesions and scarring or controlling bacteria. As a result, patients often experience unpleasant side effects, including itching and bacterial resistance. As consumer interest in natural formulations grows, there is a dire need for a fast-acting, effective acne treatment consisting of natural ingredients.
This technology is a topical formulation containing a mixture of botanicals that are synergistically capable of treating mild to moderate acne. This treatment is free of synthetic compounds and composed of fully natural components. The formulation results in a unique film-forming gel cream that limits the growth of acne-causing bacteria, prevents itching, redness, scaling, papules, and pustule formation, and controls sebum secretion. The formulation can further be applied to various forms of acne products, including wash, cleanser, lotion, and spot cream.
This technology has been validated in two human volunteers and shown to be faster and more effective than two existing acne products containing salicylic acid.
