This technology is a mixture of herbal extracts for the relief of abdominal pain and bloating associated with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS) symptoms. The benefits of the herbal extracts are supported by scientific evidence.

Unmet Need: Effective treatment of IBS

IBS is a common disorder that affects the large intestine, with symptoms such as abdominal pain or discomfort, bloating, and bowel disturbances that are caused by a variety of related factors. Medicine may be prescribed to treat moderate to severe pain, diarrhea, or constipation. However, current pharmacological treatments are not effective in the broad treatment of IBS symptoms.

The Technology: Natural tincture for effective IBS treatment

This tincture is an herbal remedy that is composed of an alcohol extract of eight Chinese herbal medicines (CHMs). These botanicals that are included in this tincture have been traditionally used to promote digestion and to harmonize the stomach and intestines. Modern research suggests that these CHMs may act holistically to give relieve from digestive symptoms through several mechanisms including (1) regulation of muscles in the digestive organs, (2) reduction of inflammation, (3) calming of digestive organs and (4) reduction of gas formation.

The technology has been approved by the FDA to study as an investigational over the counter drug.
