This technology is a convenient transportation device and method to preserve biological samples.
The storage and sterility of biological samples is of upmost concern and caution for numerous biological and biomedical applications. For instance, the preservation of semen samples at the proper temperature and vial angle is of extreme importance to ensure the samples are adequate for fertility reasons in IVF applications. Additionally, the current vial systems which are used for this application are quite expensive and wasteful from an environmental standpoint in terms of plastic and also burdensome to patients; they must produce samples at public locations.
This technology describes a method to collect and preserve biological samples in a cost-effective manner while maintaining sterility. A specifically designed device allows for cheaper and more affordable sample collection vials to be utilized in a way they are not traditionally used. For instance, this technology can be used for at home collection of semen samples, offering patients privacy and convenience. The system is adequately insulated for temperature controlled and angled in such a way to adequality preserve biological samples (e.g., semen, urine, plasma, etc.) until a time when they can be analyzed or processed.
